Prosecutors previously said that Maplewood firefighters discovered three, unresponsive adults after being called to a Van Ness Court apartment around 11:45 a.m. to check a resident’s well-being after receiving a call from a concerned person who had been unable to contact them.

On arrival, firefighters used a ladder to gain entry to the apartment where they discovered the three victims, according to a joint statement from the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Maplewood Police Chief Robert Cimino.
