Masked Maplewood Teen Accosts 4 Others In South Orange: Cops
Police say the Maplewood juvenile allegedly tried to steal another teen's backpack, pulling her to the ground.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Police arrested a Maplewood juvenile for allegedly accosting four other teens as they crossed over the pedestrian bridge near the rear of the South Orange Department of Public Works building last week, authorities say.
According to the South Orange Police Department, four teenage females were walking across the pedestrian bridge on the afternoon on Jan. 24 when two males wearing masks over part of their faces approached them.
The males grabbed one of the teen’s backpacks and pulled her to the ground, then fled towards Waterlands Park, the victims told police.

South Orange police apprehended one of the suspects – a juvenile - inside the park. Police transported him to headquarters and charged him with robbery.
The second suspect wasn't located, police said last week. An investigation is ongoing.

EMS personnel treated the victim for minor injuries at the scene, police stated.
