Primary Election Tuesday: Who's On Maplewood Ballot, Where To Vote

A Maplewood Township Committee seat and the 11th District congressional seat are up for election this year.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — New Jersey's Primary Election Day is June 7. In primary races, residents who are members of a political party can choose nominees from their party who will then face the opposition in November.

Besides congressional and countywide races, two candidates in Maplewood are facing off to be the Democratic nominee for an open seat on the five-member Maplewood Township Committee. Each year the committee can choose a mayor from among themselves.

In an unusual move, the local Democratic Committee has endorsed both Deborah Engel and Kurt Kiley for the seat. The voters will choose one on June 7, and that person will be up for election in November.
