People & Places: Society of Musical Arts Concert
The Society of Musical Arts presents a free orchestral concert “People and Places” at St. George’s Episcopal Church, 550 Ridgewood Road, Maplewood, 4 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2014. Music by Elgar, Mozart, and contemporary composer Paul Moravec. Moravec will be in attendance; he and Stephen Culbertson, music director and conductor will discuss the his work “Montserrat, Concerto for Cello and Orchestra” with the audience after the performance. Jameson Platte will be the featured soloist.
The Society of Musical Arts (SOMA) was founded by the famous Maplewood violinist and music teacher/author, Samuel Applebaum. For over thirty years, the SOMA orchestra has brought together friends, neighbors, and musicians, both professional and amateur--all for the love of music! All are welcome!
