Bob Costas' Eye Infection Keeps Him From Covering the Sochi Olympics: What You Need to Know About Eye Infections

Eye infections can cause work problems! Always consult a doctor at the first sign that there is something not normal about your eye, so that it can be diagnosed and treated as quickly as possible. Discharge, an uncomfortable feeling, redness, tearing and itchiness are some of the many symptoms of eye infections.

Eye infections have various causes, they can be bacterial, viral or fungal. Different parts of the eye can also be affected; the conjunctiva, the eyelid, the cornea, the retina and blood vessels, the vitritis (liquid part) or the optic nerve, for example. Depending on the cause and part affected that will determine what the treatment is. The lesson is to get it treated so that you will feel more comfortable as soon as possible and get your vision back. Serious eye infections interfere with your lifestyle, which includes your work.
In some instances there can be complications and lasting consequences.
