NJ Cab Driver Beaten, Robbed By Passenger, Family Says

The unidentified driver was "brutally attacked" authorities say, by an unknown man this past Monday night.

DOVER, NJ — Morris County Sheriff’s CrimeStoppers are looking for any information about an attack against a cab driver this past Monday night.

The Dover Police Department found the currently unidentified driver that night on Madison Street, who had reportedly picked up his passenger on East Blackwell Street between 8:50 and 9 p.m., before heading near Madison and Pine Streets at about 9:22 p.m.

That was where the driver was "brutally attacked" by the unknown man, according to the Morris County CrimeStoppers.

The cab driver’s daughter, Alvamer Vasquez, had set up a GoFundMe drive on Tuesday, that has raised close to half of the $50,000 goal to help defray his medical expenses.

She said that her father picked up the man near a restaurant in Dover on Monday night, who had not previously called him for a ride. When her father dropped him off at the spot where the man requested, he “beat my father with a metal object and he passed out,” she said.

“The passenger robbed and left him dead on the side of the street,” Vasquez wrote about her father, who she said also contends with physical disabilities.

He regained consciousness a half hour later, she said and called for help.
