MIDDLETOWN, NJ — At the most recent Middletown school board meeting, held this past Monday night, Nov. 20, the Middletown Board of Education officially hired Jessica Alfone as superintendent.

Up until now, Alfone was acting superintendent; she assumed that role in late spring after then-superintendent Mary Ellen Walker abruptly retired with still several years left in her contract.

Provided by the school district, here is Alfone's employment agreement, for a term of January 1, 2024 through June 30, 2028. The motion to hire her was brought by Kate Farley, seconded by Jacqueline Tobacco. The following board members who voted to approve her were Barry Heffernan, Deborah Wright, Frank Capone, Gary Tulp, Jacqueline Tobacco, Joe Fitzgerald, Kate Farley and Leonora Caminiti.
