Arresting Update: Marijuana, DWI Charges

arrested the following people recently on marijuana possession and DWI charges ...
• On Oct. 15 at 12:55 a.m., Patrolman Jason Caruso was on patrol in the area of Leonardville Road when he stopped a vehicle for multiple violations.
The officer approached the vehicle when he observed what he identified as a marijuana grinder, which is a device used to process marijuana for smoking, and a glass pipe used to smoke marijuana that contained marijuana residue in plain view in the car.

The officer conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrests of: Kathryn Palmer, 18, of Pointe Circle, Tinton Falls; Anthony Colacino, 18, of Crystal Court, Middletown; Robert Mackie, 19, of Paul Place, Port Monmouth; and, a 17-year-old male juvenile from Middletown.
All were charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly persons offenses.

All were transported to police headquarters where they were processed and released pending a court date.
• On Oct. 14 at 4:35 p.m., Police Officer Janine Kennedy was on patrol in the area of Route 36 when she stopped a vehicle for having a broken tail light.
Kennedy approached the driver, identified as Colleen Huderwitz, 46, of 9th Street, in the Belford section of Middletown, when she detected the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath.
Officer Kennedy conducted an investigation that resulted in Huderwitz being arrested for driving while intoxicated.
She was transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released pending a court date.
• On Oct. 13, 2011 at 5:45 p.m., Patrolman Robert McNair was on patrol in the area of Ideal Beach when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot.
Officer McNair approached the vehicle and conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrests of: Kyle Clayton, 19, of Thousand Oaks Drive, Atlantic Highlands; Christopher Benino, 19, of Murphy Road, Port Monmouth; and, a 17-year-old female juvenile from Middletown.
All were charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense.
All three subjects were processed and released pending a court date.
• On Oct. 11 at 11:25 p.m., Sgt. Michael Kenney was on patrol in the area of Route 35 when he stopped a vehicle for a motor vehicle violation. Officer Kenney approached the driver, identified as Joseph Olaya, 33, of Donald Boulevard, Holbrook, NY, when he detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.
Sgt. Kenney conducted an investigation that resulted in Olaya being arrested for driving while intoxicated.
He was taken into custody and was searched as a matter of arrest procedure when Officer Kenney located marijuana and a pipe used to smoke marijuana.
Olaya was transported to police headquarters where he was charged with the additional offenses of possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was processed and released pending a court date.
