Bayshore Fishing Derby Will Be May 6
Held from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at Bayshore Waterfront Park in Port Monmouth. Open to beginner and experienced anglers.

PORT MONMOUTH, NJ — Get hooked on fishing when the Monmouth County Park System hosts its annual Bayshore Fishing Derby at Bayshore Waterfront Park, Port Monmouth Road, Port Monmouth. Held from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, this derby is open to beginners as well as experienced anglers. Park System Naturalists will be on hand to teach those just getting started how to rig and cast their poles, such as this Monmouth County park naturalist pictured above.
The event will also feature seining demonstrations. The cost to enter the derby is $8 per person; $4 per additional person. Pre-registration is accepted online atwww.MonmouthCountyParks.com or by calling 732-842-4000, ext. 1. Event day registration is cash or check only. Participants must supply their own fishing poles, tackle and bait. Those competing must fish from the beach. Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish in three different age categories.
