A veteran of the United States Army, a political activist, author and staunch business advocate and owner, ‘Bobby Z,’ who started digging ditches at the age of 14, was the founder of the Bayshore Business Association. The association was an alliance of area businesses whose mission was to improve prospects for economic development and commercial enterprise in the Bay Shore Region while protecting the quality-of-life for residents. The organization was a strong voice on key issues and projects during the 1990s. Working across political lines and in conjunction with local, state, county and federal officials, members became vocal supporters for the Belford Ferry and for preservation of the former AT&T Building in Holmdel. Both projects became realities. In addition – ‘Bobby Z’ beams with pride when talking about this – the association also became one of the most visible and outspoken opponents of dumping in the Raritan Bay, a safety and quality-of-life issue for both residents and commercial enterprises in the region. ‘Bobby Z’ recalls the way everyone banded together by marching, wearing t-shirts and carrying signs. “We took our fight to the street and lobbied our elected officials, lighting a fire under anyone who could do something. We took action and did not wait for the problem to go away. The Bayshore Business Association really stood for something,” stated ‘Bobby Z.’
Beverly Bova Scarano, an active member of the group at the time, remembered her friend as an outstanding leader. “He was wonderful, the inspiration and the perspiration. That was Bobby Z,” noted Bova Scarano, a local realtor based in Middletown.

Tales Of The Junk Yard Dog
‘Bobby Z’ is also an avid writer and blogger and authored the book, Tales Of The Junk Yard Dog, a rather abrupt and unusual collection of poems providing insightful and comical commentary on life, the convergence of the past and the present, and the trials and tribulations of relationships. He now manages a blog by the same name as his book. The blog can be accessed at http://www.talesofthejunkyarddog.wordpress.com.
When he is not working or writing, ‘Bobby Z’ finds time to support his favorite political candidate, Donald Trump, and has installed a large sign outside his office and showroom supporting the presidential candidate. The first and only business in the area to declare support so early and so visually, Zielinski has also created bumper stickers which say ‘Trump 2016’ and will provide a sticker to anyone who asks.
