MIDDLETOWN, NJ — In an effort to prevent vandalism, Middletown Township is in the beginning stages of adding security cameras at several local parks.
Middletown is trying to secure Green Acres grant funding from the state to pay for the cameras, which probably will not be installed until fall 2018, said Township Administrator Anthony Mercantante.
"By the time we get the Green Acres final go-ahead, then write up the specs and go out to bid, we are probably looking at early fall realistically," Mercantante told Patch.

This will be part of a multi-year park improvement program in Middletown. In the first phase, cameras will be installed at Tindall, Croydon Hall, Normandy and Lincroft Acres and Nutswamp School (the synthetic turf field), along with other park improvements that will happen there.
Those cameras will cost about $90,000 total for the first phase.
