Car Drives Into Tree Off Rt. 36 Friday Morning

A 19-year-old Belford woman lost control and drove into a tree Friday morning in the area of State Route 36 and Vineyard Avenue.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A 19-year-old Belford woman drove into a tree Friday morning in the area of Highway 36 and Vineyard Avenue, according to Middletown police. She was seriously injured, but is expected to survive.

The accident happened at approximately 7:09 a.m. Friday, June 30, police said. The vehicle, a Honda Civic, was traveling eastbound on State Route 36 when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The young woman sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. She was treated at the scene by medical personnel from Middletown EMS and MONOC. She was then flown via New Jersey State Police NorthStar helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. No other cars were involved in the accident.

Also responding to the crash was the Middletown Twp. First Aid and Rescue Squad, East Keansburg Fire Company, Community Fire Company, and Port Monmouth Fire Company. *It is not Patch's editorial policy to release the name of drivers in car accidents, unless they have been criminally charged, or were killed.
