Debris Flies Through Woman's Windshield On Parkway In Middletown

A woman was injured by a piece of debris that flew through her windshield Tuesday morning on the Parkway in Middletown.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A woman was injured by a piece of debris that flew through her windshield Tuesday morning on the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey State Police confirmed.

The accident happened at 11:08 Tuesday morning near mile marker 112.5, which is in the Middletown/Lincroft area. The woman, driving a black Lexus in the northbound local lanes of the Parkway, was hit by an unknown piece of debris that flew through her windshield, State Police said.

Bleeding and disoriented, she was able to pull over and call 911. Middletown EMS responded, which took her to either Jersey Shore Medical Center or Bayshore Medical Center (there were conflicting reports of which hospital she was taken to). The accident caused a laceration above her right eye.

It was likely debris kicked up from the road, said a State Police public information officer, and there is no indication it came from a construction site. The mile marker where it happened is a few hundreds yards north of where the Middletown-Lincroft Rd. bridge is over the Parkway, which is under construction by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. The bridge is located between exits 109 and 114 at milepost 112.1. The accident occurred at mile marker 112.5.
