Fire Breaks Out At North Middletown Home Thursday Evening

The fire broke out at 5:38 p.m. in the rear of a ranch home on the 300 block of Jersey Avenue, according to the Middletown fire department.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There was a fire in a private home Thursday evening in the North Middletown section of the Township.

The fire broke out at 5:38 p.m. in the rear of a ranch home on the 300 block of Jersey Avenue, according to the Middletown all-volunteer fire department.

There was nobody inside the home when firefighters got there. What exactly caused the fire is still being investigated.

The fire started in the rear exterior of the home, and extended towards the roof. Middletown Fire Dept. First Assistant Chief William Kane reported the fire extended into the attic through the roof soffit.

Additional backup units were requested.

The fire was placed under control at 6:15 p.m.

Approximately 17 firefighters from four companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call, from Community, East Keansburg, Port Monmouth and Belford Independent Fire companies. Additionally the MTFD Air Unit, Fire Police and the Safety Unit also responded.

Port Monmouth First Aid Squad provided medical services, rehabilitating three firefighters. No firefighter injuries were reported.

The building utilities were secured by New Jersey Natural Gas and JCP&L.
