Fire On Cherry Tree Road Friday In Middletown
The 911 call came in at 1:37 p.m. Friday of an attached garage fire. Two cats refused to get out of the home.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There was a house fire Friday afternoon on Cherry Tree Road in the New Monmouth section of Middletown.
The 911 call came in at 1:37 p.m. Friday of an attached garage fire.
There was a fire in the garage, which was attached to the two-story wood frame home. However, the fire did spread to part of the home.

Chief John Waltz immediately requested additional support and a hose line.
No occupants were inside the structure and two family cats were safely secured in a room in the house during firefighter operations; firefighters tried to get the cats out of the house but — being cats — they did not listen.

While there was minimal fire damage to the inside of the house, there was heavy smoke damage throughout the house.
The fire was placed under control by MTFD Chief John Waltz at 1:50 p.m. All units were cleared from the scene at 3:10 p.m.
Approximately 48 firefighters from 5 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from Belford Engine, Community, East Keansburg, Port Monmouth and Belford Independent Fire companies. Additionally, the MTFD Air Unit, Fire Police and the Safety Unit also responded.
Middletown’s Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) provided medical. No firefighter injuries were reported.
