GoFundMe Launched For Middletown Municipal Worker Who Died

The man who died is John Molnar, 47, a longtime Middletown Township employee. He leaves behind three children and his fiance.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — This GoFundMe page has been started for the Middletown Sewerage Authority employee who died Tuesday in a workplace accident at the sewage treatment plant in Belford.

The man who died is John Molnar, 47, a longtime Middletown Township employee. He leaves behind three children and his fiance.

"John Molnar, the father of these three beautiful children, passed away tragically in an accident at work," read the fundraising page. "He leaves behind Johnny, age 16, Sarah, age 12, and Gianna, age 2. Johnny and Sarah's mom Bridget passed away almost six years ago, also unexpectedly, leaving these two children without their biological parents. Gianna's mom, Carla, was set to marry John this summer and now finds herself the sole provider for her daughter. This situation is a tragedy beyond understanding. If you find it within your heart, please consider a donation of any amount to go directly to all of these children's futures."

But that's all he would say on the matter. Molnar's death is now currently under investigation by Public Employees Occupational Safety and Health (PEOSH), which has not released a report on his death.

PEOSH is the New Jersey state agency that investigates when there is an accident, mishap or death on a public job.

This happened at about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday.

Molnar was a Hazlet resident, said Brian Rischman, executive director of the Middletown Sewerage Authority. Molnar first worked for many years for Middletown Township and then went to work for the Sewerage Authority.

Rischman called Molnar one of the sewage treatment plant's "most valuable employees" and said it extends "its deepest condolences to Molnar's family, plus his co-workers at the plant."
