Highlands Oktoberfest Rescheduled for Oct. 22
Rainy weather washes it out this Saturday; mark your calendars for Saturday, Oct. 22 for beer, bratwurst and lederhosen.

Highlands, NJ - You'll have to wait to sip Oktoberfest beer, chomp down on bratwurst and dance the polka.
The 16th annual Highlands Oktoberfest, which was supposed to be Saturday, has been rescheduled for October 22, from 12 -7 p.m. The Oktoberfest will be in Veterans Park on Bay and Shrewsbury Avenues in Highlands and, as always, is free to attend.
The festival is modeled after the traditional Munich, Germany Oktoberfest with an emphasis on eating; drinking and being merry while providing something for everyone. Authentic German food is a highlight of this famous festival. Executive Chef Butch Greenwaldt is preparing the menu with plenty of traditional German favorites hot off the grill such as bratwurst, knockwurst, kraut, potato pancakes, goulash, sauerbraten and Bavarian noodles along with other tasty fare those less adventurous. Quench your thirst with a large variety of Oktoberfest beers, both light and dark. The beer garden will also serve pumpkin beer, hard apple cider, riesling wine and sangria.

There will be live Oompah and polka music performed by the Ed Hendela Band. The Bayern Verien German Dancers will surely get the crowd moving. Festivities will include a “Best-Dressed” Contest, and a “Beer Stein Holding” Contest with special prizes. There will also be 50/50 drawings with 50% of the proceeds going to the lucky winners. There is something for everyone at the Highlands Oktoberfest. The festival is family-friendly and there will be children’s activities and face painting, along with a wide variety of retail, specialty and craft vendors.
