House Fire Friday Morning In New Monmouth Section Of Middletown

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A house fire broke out Friday morning in the New Monmouth section of Middletown.
The fire happened at 7:16 a.m. at a home on Libby Place. When firefighters got there, they found heavy smoke coming from the home.
Third-Assistant Chief Kevin Morrissey reported heavy fire conditions coming from a second-story window and requested additional equipment and manpower to the scene.

Belford Engine Fire Company and Independent Fire Company of Belford arrived and immediately began fire suppression and search and rescue operations. Port Monmouth Fire Company and East Keansburg Fire Company also responded and helped with extensive overhaul of the second floor.
The fire was placed under control at 7:35 a.m. by Morrissey.

Nobody was injured in the fire. In total, 27 volunteer Middletown firefighters responded to the incident.
The fire is under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Marshall’s Office under the direction of Fire Marshall Edward “Buddy” Skelly.
