House Fire In Middletown's River Plaza; Explosion Reported

A home on Alexander Drive was significantly damaged, and the initial calls reported some type of explosion, said Middletown police.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A house in the upscale River Plaza section of Middletown was badly damaged in a fire Wednesday morning, and the initial call reported an "explosion," said Middletown police.

The house is located on Alexander Drive, close to River Plaza Elementary School. The call first came in at about 10:30 Wednesday morning.

There were no injuries, but the house endured "significant damage," said Middletown police.

"The first calls came in as some type of explosion; we're not sure if it was electrical, natural gas or propane," said Middletown police. "Investigators are at the scene."

River Plaza elementary was not affected.
