Keyport Kiwanis & Union Beach Team Up On Curb Painting Initiative
The Kiwanis Club of Keyport provided FREE curb painting to residents of Union Beach to assist in a public safety initiative, identify houses

UNION BEACH, NJ—The Kiwanis Club of Keyport, a 97-year old service organization in the Bayshore community, teamed up with the Union Beach municipality in a public-private-partnership to paint house numbers on street curbs in the municipality. Working with the Municipal Clerk's office, the voluntary sign-up added a total of 127 homes to be painted by the end of summer, with 71 completed this Saturday.

The Kiwanis Club of Keyport provided this service FREE of charge for Union Beach residents with the intent to easily identify residents’ homes during an event of an emergency. Kiwanis members eager to paint homes arrived at the Union Beach municipality administrative offices at 9AM. While COVID-19 continues to ravage the globe, the Kiwanis Club ensured to wear face masks during the event, limited groups to 3 individuals, and made sure social distancing was enforced when applicable. Martin Slezak, President of the Kiwanis Club stated, “During uncertain times, the Kiwanis Club kept true to its’ promise of service to the community. Even during a global pandemic, we took preventative measures to give back to our community”. The Kiwanis Club accepted donations, although it was not required. The Club is looking to keep this initiative alive on a yearly basis.

Kiwanis Club is currently meeting bi-weekly via teleconferencing and is looking for local members to join their organization. If you are interested, please email keyport.kiwanis@gmail.com.
