Kids Find Marijuana Bag On Atlantic Highlands Youth Sports Field
Two children, ages 12 and 8, found this bag of marijuana in the baseball dugout on Firemans Field Saturday morning during youth sports.
ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ — Over the weekend, two kids found a bag of marijuana on Firemans Field in Atlantic Highlands, said police.
The baggie of marijuana, pictured above, was found by two children, ages 8 and 12, in a baseball dugout on Firemans Field Saturday morning, when the fields were being used for recreational youth soccer, said Atlantic Highlands Police Chief David Rossbach.
The children immediately turned the bag over to police; in fact, it was the 12-year-old who walked over to a nearby police officer that same morning and told the officer he believed it was "weed."

"It is our belief that the marijuana was left behind by another juvenile or adult who was utilizing the dugout for cover," said Chief Rossbach. Additionally, he said he was very concerned because the packaging appeared to be marketed towards children, with cartoon images of "Ricky and Morty" on the front.
"With the legalization of marijuana we expect to see more of this type of activity," warned Chief Rossbach. "The marijuana was contained in packaging geared towards juveniles. Parents are asked to keep a close eye on their children."
