Kids' Summer Camp At Leonardo State Marina
The Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ and Leonardo State Marina are taking applications and offering 15 free scholarships to the camp.

LEONARDO, NJ — The non-profit Conserve Wildlife Foundation of New Jersey and Leonardo State Marina are taking applications, and offering 15 free scholarships, for the Bayshore Adventure Program. This week-long summer adventure offers fun and exciting learning experiences at the Leonardo State Marina for area children entering third to sixth grade, ages eight through eleven.
Program leaders from Leonardo State Marina and Conserve Wildlife Foundation will facilitate hands-on activities that foster exploration and discovery about the wildlife and their habitats that surround the Bayshore area. Activities include seining on the beach to discover fish, spending the day identifying birds with a beach bird biologist, learning about osprey and other marine wildlife that live in the bay and the circumstances that threaten their survival. Friday is Friday Fun Day where children engage in team building activities including tug of war, sandcastle building contest, solar s’more making, and more.
"We are thrilled to offer the Bayshore Adventure Program to local children. Exploring the Marina and expanding their knowledge of the Bayshore area, and the wildlife that call it home, will become some of their most treasured childhood memories" said Stephanie DAlessio, CWF Director of Education.

The Bayshore Adventure Program costs $125/per week/per child. The scholarships will allow 15 children from low- and middle-income families to attend one week for free. The program runs for two weeks this coming summer, August 12-16 and August 19-23.
“Being outdoors along the coast can open children’s eyes to the wonders of wildlife all around us,” says David Wheeler, Conserve Wildlife Foundation Executive Director. “Our summer programs connect kids with hands-on activities alongside biologists, educators, and other professionals. All children deserve the chance to spend time outside – which has been shown to help kids lead happier, healthier lives, and even improve their performance in school – and we are grateful to OceanFirst Foundation for providing 15 scholarships to the Bayshore Adventure Program.”
