Lakeside Ave. Home In Middletown's Navesink Section Destroyed By Fire

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A home on Lakeside Avenue in the Navesink section of Middletown was heavily damaged by a fire Saturday evening.
The fire broke out at 6:44 p.m. in a private home on the 100 block of Lakeside Avenue. The call was reported from a passerby via 911.
The first arriving Middletown Fire Dept. unit, Third Assistant Chief Kevin Morrissey confirmed a large two-story wood frame barn-type structure was on fire, with flames showing from the front and extending into the second floor of the building.

Chief Morrissey requested additional support and directed the first arriving engine to come directly into the scene and begin fire suppression, and the second arriving unit to drop a supply line from the nearest hydrant.
Middletown volunteer firefighters entered the building and searched to ensure no occupants were inside. All the fire was found and extinguished. Ventilation and overhaul assignments were completed.

There was heavy fire damage to the front and second floor and heavy smoke damage throughout the structure.
The fire was declared under control by MTFD Deputy Chief William Kane at 6:55 p.m. All units were cleared from the scene at 8:00p.m.
Approximately 42 firefighters from five companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department responded to the call from Navesink, Brevent Park and Leonardo, Community, Belford Independent and River Plaza Hose Fire companies.
The fire is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Marshal’s office under the direction of Fire Marshal Edward Skelly.
