Young King Dave, Middletown Rapper, Instagram Star Dies

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — Ever heard of Young King Dave? He's an Instagram star with 256,000 followers most famous for "smokin' doinks"and he's from Middletown, NJ.

David James Nixon died on Thursday. He was 19 years old.

"David James, A.K.A YKD, passed away May 17, 2018. We are deeply saddened by this loss and he will be greatly missed," his family wrote on his GoFundMe page. "He was a very special person with a big heart and a great sense of humor. We remember all the good times and how he made us smile and are very grateful for all the prayers and well wishes of friends and family. All proceeds will go to his funeral expense and David’s favorite charity, Make a Wish Foundation."

He died as he was recovering from a collapsed lung, NJ.com reported. He had spent the past few weeks in the hospital.

David James coined the phrase "doinks," or marijuana blunt. He referred to smoking marijuana as "smoking loud" and one of his most-watched Instagram videos features him saying, "It's (expletive) nice out!" while smoking a blunt at his Middletown home last summer. "Who's tryin'a chill, smoke some loud, ya feel me?"
