Upon arrival, the parties had already been separated and police found the victim — who is not being identified at this time — with injuries to his head and face. Police did not identify him, but he is the 20-year-old delivery driver for Domino's, and his injuries were very serious, said the family friend.

The young man was admitted to Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

"He was knocked out," said the family friend of the victim, who did not want to give their name. "He is still in the hospital, but the neurologist said he's doing better as of today (Wednesday). But he was punched in the face and knocked out. He hit his head on the sidewalk and cracked his skull. He had a brain bleed. That's why he's in critical care."

The suspect, Kydeem J. McLeod, 33, of Middletown, was arrested and charged with one count of aggravated assault. He was transported to the Monmouth County Jail pending a detention hearing, where a judge will decide if he can be let out of jail until his first court appearance.

Police say the suspect and the victim were involved in a traffic dispute on Rt. 35 at Palmer Avenue, while both of their cars were driving south on 35.

Both cars pulled into the parking lot of the Domino’s Pizza and once there, the dispute continued and escalated to a physical assault, said police.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has information about the incident is asked to contact Middletown Police Detective First-Class Keith Hirschbein at (732) 615-2120.
