North Middletown Couple Runs Into Neighbor's Burning Home, Save Woman
A North Middletown couple is thanked after they ran into their neighbor's burning home Monday night, pulling an elderly woman to safety:

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — There was a garage fire Monday night on the 800 block of Palmer Avenue in North Middletown, according to the Middletown fire department.
The fire broke out at 6:01 p.m., and when he got there Middletown Fire Chief John Waltz, Jr. reported heavy smoke coming from the home's attached garage.
The first arriving trucks were from the East Keansburg Fire Company and Port Monmouth, and they worked quickly to get the fire in the garage under control. Because of their quick work, the fire was able to be contained with minimal damage to the inside of the home, said Chief Waltz.

Firefighters also learned that James and Elaine Scott, neighbors of the home that caught fire, had run into the home before firefighters got there and were able to help the home's elderly female resident get out safely. The older woman was not injured and she was resting at the Scott's home when fire units arrived on scene.
"The Middletown Fire Department would like to commend the Scotts for their actions and averting a potential worse outcome," said Chief Waltz.
