State Police To Set Up DWI Checkpoint On Parkway Next Weekend
State Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County on March 7 and 8.

New Jersey State Police will set up a sobriety checkpoint on the Garden State Parkway next weekend, police said.
The New Jersey State Police Troop D Traffic Office will set up the checkpoints between 6 p.m. Saturday, March 7 and 2 a.m. Sunday, March 8 in Monmouth County. They hope to reduce crashes caused by driving while intoxicated, State Police said.
In a news release, police said they may be losing the element of surprise with the advance warning, but noted that people who drive drunk already know that is a deadly decision.

“But they do it anyway in total disregard for their safety and the safety of everyone else on the road,’‘ the news release said. “We’re assuming that their poor judgment will not impede our ability to take drunk drivers off the road just because of a little advance warning.”
Police ask that motorists who spot erratic drivers call authorities from a hands-free device by dialing #77.
