Suzi's Sweet Shoppe will celebrate 20 sweet years of success with a series of events to commemorate the anniversary and to show appreciation to the community. On Monday, August 27, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Suzi's Sweet Shoppe will host Customer Appreciation Day, and everyone will receive 20% off all store purchases. The sale is the first of several events to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this family-owned mecca for everything chocolate!

The second event will be held on Thursday, September 27 and will also feature a 20% store discount to all customers between the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, from 5-7 p.m. on September 20, Suzi's Sweet Shoppe will host a business networking meet & greet to showcase the wide array of corporate gift-giving options and especially gift baskets and 'sweet' advertising options available to the business community. A gift from Suzi's Sweet Shoppe is certainly a tasty and elegant way to show appreciation to clients.

On Saturday, October 20, Suzi's Sweet Shoppe will host the official 20th anniversary celebration from 12-4 p.m. at the store. There will be extensive sampling of delicious chocolate, an anniversary cake & cookies, a prize wheel, give-a-ways, special discounts (20% off all day), entertainment for children including balloon art & face painting, and lots of family fun! Guests can also make a donation to non-profit The Backpack Crew and be entered into a drawing for a gift basket valued at $100.

Creating premium chocolate is an art that requires great skill, passion & dedication. Since opening in 1998, Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe has thrived under the steady and energetic leadership of husband and wife team, Suzi and Stan Hordych. The ‘dynamic duo of chocolate’ have developed and refined their unique, hand-dipped chocolates and candy with absolute devotion. The store now offers over 100 different products, including a gift basket design department, and has 5 loyal employees, including Suzi. The number of family members involved totals 13. That total spans 3 generations including children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Family members help with everything including dipping chocolate, creating attractive window displays, packing & shipping the candy, stocking the shelves, greeting customers, providing one-on-one assistance, and most of all, making Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe a happy & sweet place! The founding generation is Suzi and her husband, Stan. Both are actively in charge and manage day-to-day operations. Stan is the oldest active family member at a very young 65. The youngest involved family member is grandson Evan, at age 16.

In fact, chocolate has been a part of Suzi’s life since she was a child and is the reason she met husband, Stan, who also worked in the same candy store, Mrs. Hanna Krause’s. The story is joyful and inspirational and is perhaps the best way to describe the family business enterprise that has evolved into chocolate, candy & fudge mecca, Suzi’s Sweet Shoppe! And yes, Suzi is a published author and contributed a chapter in the book entitled, ‘For Love of Family – and Chocolate!’ She has also received local, regional & national media attention, including a visit from ABC Eyewitness News on National Peanut Butter Fudge Day in 2016!

ABOUT THE OWNERS: Susan Hordych and her husband, Stan, are proud owners of a confectionery haven known as Suzi`s Sweet Shoppe. Even as a teenager, she was passionate about candy, so she built her candy-coated dream come true while starting and raising a family. Susan is active in many local organizations and travels the country with her husband to various expositions, always looking for something new. In many ways, Susan has taken candy to a new level, and the world is her chocolate covered strawberry—a favorite among patrons. Susan plans to continue building on her chocolate dreams working alongside family and surrounded by love.
