This non-civil service exam is held once a year and its results are accepted by 26 police departments in Monmouth County:
MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — The entry-level exam to become a police officer in Monmouth County will be May 16 and 17 this year.

This exam is administered by the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police. The exam is two parts; a written test and a physical test.

This non-civil service exam is held once a year and the results are accepted by most of the member towns in Monmouth County.
Your one-year application eligibility period begins on the day you take the exam. During this 12-month period, you may apply for any position advertised by a department participating in the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police program, provided you meet that department’s minimum score requirements, as well as any other department-specific prerequisites.

Only those applicants who pass the written examination will continue on to the physical assessment portion of the exam. The Physical Assessment will be held after the written exam at a later date and time.
To be eligible to take the test, you must be:
- Between the ages of 18 and 34
- Have a valid drivers license
- Be a high school graduate
- Be a U.S. citizen
- Out of County eligible
Physical Test Requirements The test will include:
- 1 1/2 Mile Run
- Vertical Jump
- Push Ups
- Sit Ups
- 300 Meter Sprint
