Mending The Main In Millburn: $700K Water Project On Great Hills Road

NJAW is replacing 2,200 feet of water main that's "nearing the end of its life" in Millburn.

New Jersey American Water (NJAW) commenced a $700,000 project to replace 2,200 feet of water main “nearing the end of its life” on Great Hills Road in Millburn on Tuesday.

The project will replace an unlined, cast-iron water main that dates back to the 1900s and 1930s with new, 8-inch, cement-lined ductile iron water main, according to Richard Barnes, an external affairs manager with NJAW.

Barnes told Patch that crews will be working along Great Hills Road from Holly Drive to Wildwood Drive, and should be finished in six weeks, with final road restoration due to complete in the spring of 2016.
