Millburn 'We Are Not Yet Out Of The Woods With This Storm'
Millburn continued to clean up Thursday and Friday as a flood warning was extended for the area, particularly near rivers.
MILLBURN, NJ — Millburn and other Essex County towns cleaned up Thursday and Friday after heavy rains brought floods amid Tropical Depression Ida. A flood warning was extended for the area Thursday and Friday.
A Millburn resident posted video of Millburn High School students helping with cleanup, writing, "They could've spent it on their phones or binge watching their favorite tv shows, but no, not our kids!"

The Millburn schools were closed Thursday but would reopen Friday, the district said.

The town Tweeted on Thursday:
There are still life threatening situations happening and those continue to take priority for our emergency services. We are not yet out of the woods with this storm. Please remain vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all times.

Previously, Millburn had warned residents to prepare: Amid Flood Watch, Millburn Issues Guidance On Tropical Storm Ida
Nearby, Maplewood sent residents an alert Wednesday night to "Stay inside and do not go out to inspect damage until daylight, as there is a danger of falling trees and/or wires."
The region was under a tornado watch until 1 a.m. and a flash flood watch until 2 p.m.

While some may consider flash floods just an inconvenience, these floods have proved fatal to drivers (sometimes trapping parents and children in their cars as water rises) and to children playing near small streams.
