Primary Election Voter Guide For Millburn: Where, When To Vote Tuesday

MILLBURN, NJ — Just because there's no presidential primary this year, doesn't mean you should avoid voting on Primary Election Day Tuesday in New Jersey. Then, come back after 8 p.m. to see the numbers as they come in.

In a primary, candidates vie to be the nominee for their party. Then they face the opposing party in November, and independents can also enter the race.

Several local races are contested in the primary.

These races could help determine how local government will spend your tax dollars, and which programs it offers your town.

Here are some local races to pay attention to on Tuesday.

State Assembly (2 seats):

27th Dist. (Essex):

28th Dist. (Essex/Union):

  • Frank McGehee from Maplewood, Garnet Hall from Maplewood, and Cleopatra Tucker from Newark are all running to be the two Democratic nominees to face Republicans in November.
  • Republican opposition: Joy Freeman and Willie Jetti from Newark are uncontested in the primary

Millburn (Essex) (2 Township Committee seats):

Ben Stoller and Frank Saccomandi are running for the two Republican nominations and face no opposition in the primary.

Bruce Kramer and Mayor Maggee Miggins are running for the two Democratic nominations and face no opposition in the primary.

Even though these candidates are unopposed within their primary and will get the nominations to face off in November, political observers like to see how much support they have at the ballot box in advance. And independents may enter the race.
