Ranking Lists Millburn Schools As NJ's Second Best

A new ranking of New Jersey's best school districts has been released and Millburn slipped one spot since last year.

MILLBURN, NJ - Data compiler Niche has ranked New Jersey's best school districts for the 2019-2020 school year. The rankings were released Monday as part of the website's 2020 K-12 rankings.

The top-ranked school district in New Jersey is Princeton. Niche gave Princeton an A or an A+ in all categories except for diversity (B+), sports and food (B). Last year, Millburn was number 1.

Millburn received a letter grade in the following categories:

The site notes that Millburn has 4,860 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 12 to 1. According to state test scores, 80 percent of students are at least proficient in math and 85 percent in reading.

The site also ranks Millburn as number three out of 377 districts in the Places to Teach category and three out of 377 in the Best Teachers in New Jersey category.

To arrive at the rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data, and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology on their website.)

West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District had one of the steepest drops from last year, falling from 3rd to 11th. You can read more about the schools from around the state in our NJ overview story.
