Tennis Pro-Am Fundraiser Starts a New Tradition

The Millburn High School boys' tennis team's first annual pro-am tournament proved a resounding success last Saturday. The event was a popular addition to the team's clinic, held the previous weekend.

Varsity players, the "pros," teamed up with participants, the "amateurs," to compete in a round robin format in three categories: kids', mixed, and men's. The kids and mixed doubles played eight games against each of the other teams in their categories, while the men's pairs played 12 games per round.

The amateur participants in the kids' group were Justin Moskowitz, David Rubin, and David Sternlieb. With their respective partners, varsity players Jon Duan, Josh Landau, and Jason Ginsburg, the duos fought to a three-way tie. Sternlieb and Ginsburg ultimately won their group in a king-of-the-court playoff.

In the mixed doubles category, Carlotta Chan paired with Tyler Schick, Alex Pritsker with Evan Imegwu, and Joanna Atwater with Andrew Nolff. Atwater and Nolff won their group.

The men's participants - Frank Johnson, Randy Knopp, and Gary Survis - paired up with varsity players Teddy Moskovitz, Keith Knopp, and Dean Koman, respectively. Johnson and Moskovitz took first place.
