Residents of Millburn and Short Hills are reminded to avoid parking vehicles on Township streets to allow for efficient plowing in case of a large snow event. Please do not shovel or plow snow into the roadway; it should instead be confined to the property behind your curbline. Residents should aim to clear snow from sidewalks within 8 hours of daylight after a storm ends. Those who live near schools should try to create safe passage as soon as possible.

Please stay off the roads during a storm unless absolutely essential.

As a reminder, residents should report any storm-related outages directly to their utility providers at the numbers listed below.

Downed trees and wires may be reported via the non-emergency PD line at 973-564-7001. We remind residents to NOT call 9-1-1 for power outages and/or to inquire about service restoration. Reserve 9-1-1 calls for true emergencies only.

JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity.  Extra caution should be used in areas where downed lines are tangled with trees or other debris. Treat intersections with inoperable traffic signals as four-way stops.
