Another Attempted Child Luring Reported In Montclair: Sunset Park

There have been 3 alleged child luring incidents reported in Montclair in the past 2 months.

Montclair, NJ – Montclair police stated that a 12-year-old local girl reported she was the victim of an attempted luring near Sunset Park last week.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident allegedly took place around 2:30 p.m. on May 11 near the park, when a male around 40-years-old attempted to lure the young female into his car.

According to the juvenile, the man drove up alongside her in a dark-colored sedan and asked, “Can you help me find my puppy?”

The suspect then drove away south on Norwood Avenue, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white male with black, slicked-back hair, and wearing sunglasses and a black short sleeve shirt.

The alleged luring attempt was one of several such incidents reported in Montclair over the past few months.

In April, authorities investigated a possible luring attempt that took place in Brookdale Park involving a man that reportedly identified himself as a police officer and a group of pre-teen boys.

Last week, police said that a reported luring attempt near Montclair High School may have just been a “traffic dispute.”
