Candidates Speak Their Minds

Republicans, Democrats and an Independent running for town, county and state offices talked to voters and answered questions at the Senior House on Thursday night.

Voters heard a variety of opinions and impassioned presentations from candidates on Thursday night at a Montville Tea Party-sponsored forum held in the Senior House.

Organizers said attendance was lower than usual, possibly due to rain, the World Series and a Planning Board hearing at the same time.

State Assembly and Senate candidates talked about school funding issues they saw as possibly problematic and stressed the importance of education, but did not outline concrete platforms.

"It's nice that they were able to get candidates out to speak and give their opinions," said Pascal Ferrara, Committeewoman Deb Nielson's campaign manager. "That's what the U.S. is all about."
