Casha thanked those who he said worked hard to get him elected at a special GOP convention this week to fill the District 26 Assembly seat that was vacated with the death of Assembly minority leader Alex DeCroce.

Casha said that even though it didn't work out the way his supporters hoped—DeCroce's widow Betty Lou DeCroce —that "doesn't mean the show's over."

In an interview Friday, Casha said he's dealing with the loss and not currently thinking about running in any future elections.

Correction: An earlier version of this story ended, "Casha has said he might run in the general election." That was based on another report that said he may run in the Republican primary. Casha said Friday it's not something he's currently thinking about. The term "general election" was used in error.
