Chatham, Fazio Stymie Montville in MCT

Cougars score two runs in the top of the seventh to oust fourth-seeded Mustangs.

The fifth-seeded Chatham High softball team defeated the No. 4 Montville 2-0 in a tight matchup Saturday in the Morris County Tournament quarterfinals in Montville.

IN SHORT
The Cougars’ Amanda Fazio pitched a one-hit shutout. Capitalizing on costly Montville errors, the Cougars were able to rally and score two hard-earned runs to advance in the Morris County Tournament.

MUSTANG OF THE GAME
Jackie DiPiazza
DiPiazza played flawlessly in center field, robbing Chatham of several hits. At the plate, she was the sole Mustang to get a hit.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Amanda Fazio (Chatham) pitched seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. Montville pitcher Taylor Strickland recorded four strikeouts. McCall Moore (Chatham) went 2-for-3 at the plate and hit a long single to drive in a run.
