Labe's 3 Goals, Second-Half Surge Not Enough for Montville

Mustangs lose season-opener 7-6 to Madison.

The Montville High girls lacrosse team's second-half rally fell short Monday in a 7-6 loss to Madison.

IN SHORT

Trailing 4-2, the Montville High girls lacrosse team came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, quickly turning Madison’s two-goal lead into a two-goal deficit. The second half push wouldn’t be enough, though, as Madison answered back with three straight goals, including a game-winner from senior Biz Jago, handing Montville a loss in their season opener.

THEY SAID IT

“It’s a tough opener to lose by one, but I’m really proud of my kids effort. I couldn’t ask for anything more from them, they played hard from start to finish. We’re really young and this is a game that hurts now, but in the long run it’s going to make us better.”–Mulvaney
