Meet the Township Committee Candidates
Four candidates are vying for two seats on the governing body. They each answered three questions for Montville Patch on camera.

Four candidates are vying for two seats on the Montville Township Committee in the Nov. 8 election.
The two Republican incumbents—Mayor James Sandham Jr. and Committeewoman Deborah Nielson—are running for re-election on a record of reducing the town's debt by 20 percent over the past five years, lowering tax increases, and ultimately bringing the tax increases under the state-mandated 2 percent cap.
They were opposed in the Republican primary, but have since aligned their campaign advertisements.

Two Democratic challengers also are running to serve on the governing body. Daniel L. Grant has 15 years of experience serving on the Township Committee. He says he brings a sense of history of the town and would work to cut spending in ways that don't impact Montville's sense of community. Michael O'Brien, a retired Montville Township High School history teacher, has never held elected office before and says he would be a new, independent voice.
