Nielson, Sandham Win Re-election [VIDEO]

Voters stick with Republican Township Committee incumbents.

Voters re-elected Republican incumbents to three-year terms on the Township Committee on Tuesday, with and getting 2,149 and 2,317 votes, respectively, according to preliminary results.

Democratic challengers and received 1,146 and 1,061 votes, respectively.

Nielson and Sandham, whose new terms will be their third on the Township Committee, had celebrations going at and at on Tuesday night. They thanked their families and supporters. Sandham said it was humbling to have voters approve of the job the Township Committee has been doing.

Sandham and Nielson—who were opposed in the Republican primary, but later aligned their campaign advertisements—ran on a record of reducing the town's debt by 20 percent over the past five years, lowering tax increases, and ultimately bringing the tax increases under the state-mandated 2 percent cap.
