Photos: Library Sends Off Summer Program With Snakes
700 children participated in this year's summer reading program.
The Montville library said goodbye to its summer reading program on Tuesday, August 17, with an evening that included herpetologist Bill Boesenberg's "Snakes -n- Scales and Turtle Tales" show.
Boesenberg, a Wanaque resident has with 30 years of experience handling animals. Boesenberg carefully handled and explained the nature and habitat of each animal on display, including an anaconda, a turtle and an alligator. "We encourage the children to read for 90 minutes a week, which works out to 15 minutes a day," Resnikoff said. "We had a carnival themed event earlier in the year in the program and tonight everyone will see some animals during the send off".
According to Kleiman, this year's program featured 700 children, making an increase in enrollment compared to previous years.
