Teams from both towns raised money for breast cancer screenings for people without health insurance.

Montville and Parsippany's youth football leagues have competed against each other during so many events over the years the longstanding rivalry has come to be known as the "battle of the border."

On Saturday, they worked together for a special cause—raising money to provide free breast cancer screening and mammography services to people who do not have health insurance, Little Vikings President Chris Joyce said.

The Montville Broncos raised $733 for the cause and the Parsippany Vikings raised over $1,000, including the sale of items at the games, he said. The total was still being tallied.

The first Pink Out Day was established to benefit the Leslie Simon Breast Cytodiagnostic and Treatment Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, a supporter of Parsippany's football program, organizers said.
