Township To Flush Water System

Residents may experience some cloudy water while system is purged.

According to a release on the Montville Township website, the Montville Water and Sewer department will be flushing the township’s water system through the town’s fire hydrants to remove “accumulated sediment from the water transmission lines throughout the township.”

The flush will take place in two sessions: one from April 25 until April 29 and one from May 2 to May 6 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

According to the statement, residents may experience issues with their water during the flush.

“This process could result in discolored/cloudy water or low pressure during and immediately following the daily flushing,” the release stated.

Residents experiencing issues are advised to turn open cold faucets on the lowest level of the house and let the water run for 30 minutes.

The statement says that cloud water is “potable, but not desirable,” and advises residents to refrain from washing clothes or using tap water for drinking or cooking between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on flushing days.
