Water Flushing to Begin Next Week

Discolored water possible.

will begin its annual water flushing of township hydrants beginning on April 16, according to the township's website.

Flushing will be done on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from April 16 through April 20 in the northern area of the township; April 23 through April 27 in the middle area of the township; and April 30 through May 40 in the Pine Brook area so that accumulated sediment can be flushed out of the water mains.

The township warned that the flushing could cause cloudy or discolored water or low pressure during and immediately after the flushing. To remedy discolored water, the township advises opening cold water faucets on the lowest floor of the home and allowing water to run until the water's regular color is restored.

The township is requesting that residents do not do laundry or use water for drinking or cooking not only during flushing hours, but until 5 p.m. during the weekdays in which flushing is occuring. Officials also ask that water softeners be bypassed during the flushing hours.
