Off-Duty Firefighter Saves Man From Burning Burlington Co. Home

The fire broke out at about 6:45 p.m. Sunday on Sheffield Drive in Mansfield, a spokesperson for the municipality said.

MANSFIELD, NJ — An off-duty volunteer firefighter rescued a neighbor whose Mansfield house caught on fire on Sunday, a municipality spokesperson said.

The fire at 11 Sheffield Drive "was very advanced when 911 was activated," Douglas J. Borgstrom, coordinator of Mansfield Township's Office of Emergency Management, told Patch.

About 75 firefighters were needed to put out the fire, he said.

"The fire is believed to have started in the rear exterior of the home and has an unknown source at this time," Borgstrom added.
