MOORESTOWN, NJ — The new coronavirus outbreak in New Jersey and across the nation is having vast impacts in Moorestown, including the closure of schools and many businesses.

The number of cases of the illness caused by the virus, known as COVID-19, continue to rise. The governor has declared a Stay at Home order throughout the state. All non-life-sustaining businesses in New Jersey have been closed.

As of Monday, there were 167 cases of new coronavirus in Burlington County, including 10 in Moorestown. Two Moorestown residents who tested positive for coronavirus have been cleared from quarantine.

There are more than 13,000 cases in New Jersey as of Sunday, and 161 people have died as a result of COVID-19.

SCHOOLS
All schools in New Jersey remain closed in response to the new coronavirus outbreak, state officials said. MORE.

In Moorestown, the next lunch delivery is expected on April 4. Orders placed between now and 10 p.m. on April 4 will be delivered on April 6. All ordered lunches will be delivered directly to parents’ homes between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The order form and applications for free and reduced lunches are posted on the school district’s website.

BUSINESSES
Moorestown restaurants at the mall and along Camden Avenue are still open for take-out and delivery. A local realtor has done what he can to help spread the word for some of these restaurants. The owners at the Harvest Seasonal Grill and Wine Bar were forced to close the Moorestown restaurant. They are selling gift cards for the 700 employees laid off, including the 70 in Moorestown.

MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT
Moorestown municipal offices are closed and the most recent council meeting was cancelled. The next council meeting is currently scheduled for April 6. Mayor Nicole Gillespie has said the township is exploring options for livestreaming their meetings.
