Moorestown Girls Soccer Team Eliminated From Coaches Tournament

Moorestown dropped a 2-1 decision to Shawnee in the semifinals, according to nj.com.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — The Moorestown High School girls soccer team was eliminated from its quest to become the unofficial South Jersey champion Wednesday night.

Shawnee defeated Moorestown, 2-1, to advance to the finals of the South Jersey Soccer Coaches Association tournament, according to nj.com.

Alexandra Kornafel scored the game-winning goal for Shawnee. Isa Arvelo gave Moorestown the lead in the first half, but Alexa Endres tied the game for Shawnee just before halftime.

Top-seeded Shawnee will face No. 2 Eastern, a 2-1 win over Washington Township, in the final Saturday night in Cherry Hill.

Moorestown came into the tournament as the No. 5 seed. The Quakers defeated No. 12 Williamstown 2-1 in the first round. Moorestown then defeated No. 13 Paul VI, 3-2, in the quarterfinals.
