MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown High School has been ranked among the top 100 in U.S. News' latest school rankings. It was ranked No. 42 in the Philadelphia Metro Area in the rankings released on Wednesday, June 12.

"The Moorestown Township School Community continues to be proud of our students and staff," Moorestown Superintendent of Schools Scott McCartney said. "Together with the family and community at large, we partner to help our students grow to be good people who excel in academics, athletics, fine and performing arts, community service and seek balance in the social and emotional realm. We are proud to be recognized as a school of excellence that embraces equity, engagement and partnership, and I am encouraged daily by the young people in our schools."

Separate from the publication's annual ranking of the best high schools in the country — published in April — the best high schools by metro area rankings released on Wednesday analyze how schools compare to each other in the same region.

U.S. News says it used the same methodology to compile the metro-area rankings as it did for the national rankings. Metros areas were matched to their corresponding core-based statistical areas as defined by the government. The U.S. Census Bureau says metro areas and micropolitan areas (which have a population of between 10,000 and 50,000) are collectively referred to as core-based statistical areas.

"We've heard from students, parents and school officials that they're interested in seeing how their school compares with others in the community," Robert Morse, chief data strategist at U.S. News, said in a news release. "With these new rankings, residents in more than 900 metro areas nationwide can see which local schools are succeeding at educating and graduating their students."

The school district's success in the U.S. News rankings continues a trend of high rankings and achievements for the Moorestown Public School District. It has been recognized with high marks by U.S. News, NJ Monthly and other publications.
